Taking Democracy, European Values and Participation to a new level through European Programmes
4-6 rue de Pascale
As the end of 2019 approaches, Europe is finding itself in challenging, yet interesting times. With the new European legislature nearly in place, Brexit negotiations ongoing, key elections taking place across Europe, and the current EU funding programmes coming to an end - and new ones due to begin in 2021 - it is a good time to reflect on how, working across sectors, effectively engaging civil society, we can make Europe work for everyone. How we can promote democracy, European values and participation to ensure no one is left behind and we achieve more socially just, tolerant and inclusive Europe.
This year's Annual Volonteurope Conference will include the network's Annual General Meeting at 15:30-17:30 (4-6 rue de Pascale, B-1040 Brussels), which will take care of our governance activities and obligations, including elections to the Board of Directors. The AGM is open to the Volonteurope Secretariat, Board, Members and Associates only.
The Conference proper will kick-off with an evening reception on Wednesday 27th November 2019 at 19:00 (4-6 rue de Pascale, B-1040 Brussels), to celebrate our network's "Innovation in Volunteering Awards 2019". It will be an exciting occasion to showcase how volunteering can effectively promote innovation, supports European values of democracy, solidarity, social, economic and environmental justice, and demonstrates citizen participation. Everyone is welcome!
The following day, Thursday 28th November 2019, our one-day conference, 09:00-16:00 (Maison ND Chant d’Oiseau, Centre de Formation, Av. des Franciscains, 3A, B-1150 Brussels), will be delivered as an engaging, interactive and informative event, themed around the topic of “Taking Democracy, European Values and Participation to a new level through European Programmes”.
